About Databases

Our databases contain electronic versions of printed reference books, like encyclopedias and dictionaries for fast, authoritative information. We also provide newspaper articles, magazine and journal articles, Some people think that since these resources are on the Internet, they are simply websites.

The reason for this paragraph is to let you know that these resources are not websites. I repeat, they are NOT websites. They are searchable databases.

  • They are consistent, specific, reliable and authoritative.  You can search for articles by following the terms that the publisher of the database applied to the item.
  • Databases let you be more specific when you search.
  • Use synonyms for keyword searching.  Then, check the article for more terms.

If you are NOT sure which database to use, ASK a librarian!
