Glossary of Terms

DLO (Digital Learning Object) - DLOs are small, discrete computerized items that focus on a single concept to promote learning. They can be combined together to create a more comprehensive view of a topic. 

Screencast - A screencast is a recording of some portion of one's computer screen. The visual portion of our DLOs is made via screencasting, often a demonstration of some function of a database or computer program, combined with audio voiceover.

Libguide - Term applied to a library research guide, specifically using Springshare's LibGuide platform.  

Learning Management System - A software platform for delivering educational courses. The LMS used at STCC is Blackboard. 

Discovery Service - The name EBSCO has given to its all-inclusive search platform. Discovery searches databases and the library's catalog simultaneously to provide a comprehensive list of results.
