Open Office is almost exactly the same as Microsoft Office, but it's free to download, use, and distribute. The suite of software comes with a word processor (Writer), a spreadsheet (Calc) and a presentation software (Impress). There's no need to worry about compatibility; you have the option to save your files so that they will open in Word, Excel, or Powerpoint.

You plug in the information, and EasyBib puts it all together in the correct format. EasyBib also has a title page maker and can help you to determine if a website is an appropriate source for research.
