Business Ethics & Social Responsibility

This guide will help you get started finding books, articles and websites for your class.

What is a Database?

A database is a collection of information organized to be searched by computer. Through the STCC Library website, you can access various databases to locate articles and other reputable, academic sources. The library has subscriptions to both general databases (i.e. Academic Search Premier) and subject-specific databases (i.e. African American History Online). If you want to be sure to retrieve only full-text articles, meaning you can access and read the article in its entirely, be sure to click on the "full-text" option on your search screen.

Typically, for research projects, students will search for what are referred to as "scholarly articles." Scholarly articles are based in research, and are sometimes also "peer reviewed," as opposed to opinion pieces, or light journalism (i.e. an article from People Magazine). Peer reviewed means that in order for the article to be published in a particular journal, it first had to be reviewed by scholars in that field.

Our databases are purchased for the exclusive use of those on-site, or those holding current STCC library bar codes.

The databases listed below should be helpful for your research in the area of business ethics.
