Financial Aid for Marginalized Students
A list of scholarship opportunities exclusively for African-Americans, Hispanics, women, and other specific marginalized groups, as well as more generalized awards that are made available to applicants belonging to any underrepresented demographic.
Gates Millennium Scholars Program
1000 scholarships awarded each year to African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American and Hispanic American students with high academic and leadership promise, significant financial need and desire to complete an undergraduate degree in any discipline area of interest. Average award is $12,785.
Generation Google Scholarship
Helps marginalized students who plan to attend college and study computer science and technology. Eligible students must be African American, Hispanic, American Indian, Filipino/Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander. $10,000 scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of each candidate's impact on diversity, demonstrated leadership and academic background.

NAACP Scholarships
Provides scholarships for NAACP members currently enrolled or accepted to an accredited college or university in the United States. May application deadline.
Ron Brown Scholarship
Recipients are young African Americans of outstanding promise who are offered academic scholarships, service opportunities and leadership experiences. Scholars are graduating high school seniors, each awarded $40,000 ($10,000 per year for 4 years toward educational expenses), that may be used at the college or university of their choice. Application deadline is January 9.
United Negro College Fund
The nation’s largest private scholarship provider to minority students with financial need. UNCF manages various scholarship programs and each program has its own eligibility criteria, open/close dates and required documentation. You must apply through the on-line application process on their website.
AAFPAA
Any African American female student, including both undergraduate and graduate students, enrolled in a college or university is eligible to apply.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is the nation's leading organization supporting Hispanic higher education .Awards are based on merit. Amounts range from $500 to $5,000, based on relative need, among the Scholars selected. February application deadline.
Latino Scholarship Fund
Provides scholarship opportunities for college-bound Latino(a) high school seniors students in Western Massachusetts with demonstrated financial need, academic achievement and community engagement. Apply through the Community Foundation of Western Mass.

Jeanette Rankin Women's Scholarship Fund
Provides scholarships and support for low-income women 35 and older across the U.S. to build better lives through college completion. March 1 deadline.
Patsy Mink Foundation Scholarship
Five awards up to $5,000 to assist low-income women with children who are pursuing education or training. Awardees will be selected based on financial need, personal circumstance, educational path, vocational or occupational goals and service or activist or civic goals. August 1st deadline.

Soroptomist Live Your Dream Award
Awards for single mothers who have faced economic and personal hardships to enter a 2- or 4-year degree program and live their dreams. Awards up to $16,000. November deadline.
Women's Independence Scholarship Program
Helps women who have survived domestic violence to return to school and become self-sufficient. The primary candidates are single mothers with young children who lack the resources to attend college. Awards average $2,000 per term and are based on financial need. Applications accepted all year.
Women in Federal Law Enforcement Scholarships
Open to undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate female students interested in a career in law enforcement. Eligible students may major in criminal justice, social sciences, public administration, computer science, finance, chemistry, and physics. May 1st deadline.
Women Techmakers Scholars Program
An academic scholarship sponsored by Google. Awards of $10,000 based on academic performance, leadership, and impact on the community of women in technology. Open to female undergraduate students enrolled full time and studying computer science, computer engineering or closely related field.

LGBTQ

Greater Boston PFLAG
Scholarship money for high school seniors who have demonstrated leadership in improving their school’s climate for LGBTQ youth. Three separate scholarships are available.
LEAGUE Foundation LGBT Scholarship
Provides financial resources for America’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender high school seniors entering their first year of institutions of higher learning. The scholarship application opens annually in January and closes in April with awards distributed in the summer of each year.
LGBTQ Student Scholarship Database

Google Lime Scholarship
Scholarships for students who have, or consider themselves to have, a visible or invisible disability and are pursing a degree in computer science, computer engineering or closely related technical field.
Microsoft disAbility Scholarship
For high school seniors planning to major in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, law, business, or a related field. Award recipients will receive $5,000 per school year, up to $20,000 total award. March 1 deadline.
National Center for Learning Disabilities
The Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarships offer financial assistance to two graduating high school seniors with documented learning disabilities and/or ADHD who are pursuing post-secondary education. Award is $2,500 if enrolling in a community college and $10,000 for a 4 year program.
National Federation for the Blind
30 merit-based, national-level scholarships worth from $3,000 to $12,000 awarded each year for students who are legally blind in both eyes. All scholarships awarded are based on academic excellence, community service, and leadership. Applications due in March.
Rise Scholarship Foundation
Rewards students with learning disabilities who have shown determination, self-advocacy and success in overcoming their difficulties with $2,500 scholarships.

Undocumented Students

College Greenlight
Scholarships for undocumented students in alphabetical order, as well as a separate list of scholarships for undocumented students with specific areas of interest.
The Dream Scholarship
The nation’s largest college access and success program for DREAMers. Two scholarships are available for DACA/TPS students at over 75 partner colleges. Scholarship is for up to $14,500 for an associate’s degree and $29,000 for a bachelor’s degree. Applications open Nov. 1.
Edvisors Network
Some of these scholarships are specifically targeted at undocumented students, while others are more general scholarship programs that are not restricted by citizenship.
